President Trump Calls Loved Ones of Shot Military Personnel to White House

Former President Donald Trump revealed on Sunday that he has asked the relatives of a National Guard member fatally shot last week to visit the executive mansion.

He mentioned that he spoke to her parents and they were “devastated”.

Background on the Tragic Incident

Soldier Beckstrom, 20, was lost her life in a shooting on last Wednesday in the nation's capital.

Her fellow service member, US air force staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, remains hospitalized in serious condition.

Memorials across West Virginia have taken place in their remembrance.

Presidential Offer

The president stated he’s proposed a visit to the White House for the loved ones of both soldiers of the state National Guard.

“I told them: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a tough thing, arrive at the White House. We’re going to pay tribute to Sarah,” Trump told journalists. “And in the same way with Andrew, recover or not.”

Community Response

Mourners came together over the past few days at Webster County high school in the state to pay respects to Beckstrom.

Both they had been working with the military unit as part of the president’s national effort to support public safety in Washington DC.

Paying Tribute to Beckstrom

“She was the kind of student that teachers hoped for. She behaved with calm resilience, a warm expression and a upbeat demeanor that inspired people around her,” Jarrod Hankins, the leader of Beckstrom’s former high school, stated to the Associated Press. “She was sweet, caring and always eager to assist people.”

Funeral arrangements for Beckstrom are in the process of planning.

Judicial Measures and Policy Adjustments

Law enforcement have charged a twenty-nine-year-old suspect with one count of murder and charges of assault with intent to kill while carrying a weapon.

The event prompted the administration to halt asylum applications and halt granting entry permits to possessors of passports from Afghanistan.

Status of Andrew Wolfe

Andrew Wolfe, a native of the city, started his military career in 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman high school, as reported by the news agency.

He remains under medical supervision and is “battling to survive”, West Virginia leader the governor said on a news program.

The state’s top lawyer Bondi told Fox News Sunday that she also intended to meet with his relatives.

Legacy of the Fallen Soldier

Beckstrom, from her hometown, graduated from Webster County high school in June 2023 and began her service not long after, serving as a military police officer with honor, as stated by the West Virginia National Guard.

“She had a lot of kindness and she absolutely had courage,” he informed the crowd at the service. “Though her time was cut short, she has created a legacy that’s going to last forever.”
