Ex- BBC Advisers Participate in Parliamentary Inquiry Following Assertions of Bias in Unauthorized Document
We begin with queries from Tory Member of Parliament the panel's head, who oversees the group.
She initiates by giving background to the disclosed memorandum prepared by Michael Prescott and released in the Telegraph.
"I don't want the British Broadcasting Corporation slanting this way or that way, My only wish is for it neutral, impartial and equitable," he states.
Upon being questioned if he thinks the British Broadcasting Corporation is systematically partial, he responds: "Absolutely not. To be clear, a great deal the BBC creates is exceptional - encompassing informative and fictional content."
Nevertheless, he states: "There remains substantial tasks that must be undertaken at the British Broadcasting Corporation."
Another ex-adviser BBC specialist questioned by the panel, Caroline Daniel, states she regards the British Broadcasting Corporation with great importance and that it operates a "persistent practice and active debate" on fluid and multifaceted topics.
"Whether the BBC was ready to conduct a genuine conversation and argument and take action?" she reflects. "In my view, indeed, they were."
