The January recruitment period is always a period of feverish speculation and possible major transfers. Several high-profile footballers are being linked with transfers out of their current teams. We examine some of the key names that are poised to be changing clubs this month.

Antoine Semenyo

Although the Black Stars' inability to qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations, this has left the player available, it appears a significant transfer is imminent. The 25-year-old possesses a deal with a sizeable buy-out clause applicable for a brief period at the start of the month. Latest developments suggest the Premier League champions look to have won the race for his services. Other suitors like Chelsea and Tottenham are said to have moved on to other targets, potentially opening the door for clubs like Liverpool or Manchester United to make a late move.

M. Guéhi

The English defender has continued to impress for Crystal Palace this season a summer transfer to Anfield collapsing. With his deal due to run out in the close season, January is the club's last chance to obtain a fee for their skipper. A host of elite clubs, including City and several European giants like Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich, reportedly hold an interest. Yet, a January departure is considered unlikely, especially given the coach's reliance on the player.

Brennan Johnson

The Wales forward has had first-team minutes limited at Spurs this term. Although being the club's top scorer last season, Johnson has started just a handful of league games. Reports suggest the London outfit would be willing to consider a sale for the right price, thought to be in the region of £40 million. Bournemouth are currently leading the chase, with Crystal Palace, Aston Villa, and Brentford also credited with an interest.

Rúben Neves

This Portugal midfielder might be set for a comeback to the English top flight following a spell in Saudi Arabia. Now just 28, and with his agreement expiring in the summer of 2026, he represents a potential bargain. Teams such as Manchester United and Liverpool are connected to the player. Additionally, there have been suggestions from Spain that he would be willing to take a pay cut for a move to Real Madrid.

M. ter Stegen

The experienced German shot-stopper is now as the third option at Barça following the coach Flick. Having lost his place and had surgery, a winter departure looks highly probable. Aston Villa were initially linked as a potential destination, but that move currently seems off. Instead, clubs from Saudi Arabia and Turkey are thought to be showing interest in the 33-year-old.

Ivan Toney

The proven English striker has continued finding the net regularly in the Middle East. A return to the Premier League might enhance his dwindling chances of making the England squad. But, securing a transfer presents significant challenges. Al-Ahli do not wish to part with him, and his alleged huge salary render any move complicated. Everton, Tottenham, and Manchester United have all been mentioned as admirers.

Kenan Yildiz

This highly-rated Turkey attacker has been in fine form for the Italian giants this term. As his current deal nearing its end, a host of Premier League sides – such as Tottenham, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Liverpool – are keeping tabs on the developments. The Turin club are eager to tie down the 20-year-old to a new long-term contract but face a battle to retain one of the continent's most promising young talents.

K. Smit

The much-admired Netherlands teenage midfielder has drawn parallels to Kevin De Bruyne for his playing style. After impressing at the U19 Euros, he has broken into the AZ Alkmaar first team. This teenager is heavily tipped to make a major transfer in January. Newcastle United reportedly are leading the chase, but are facing strong rivalry from Real Madrid for a deal valued at approximately twenty-two million pounds.
