Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's 21 victories have been won on hard surfaces

A comeback Daniil Medvedev claimed his initial title for over two years with a win over opponent Moutet in the competition title decider.

The athlete, a ex- top-ranked player, has experienced a difficult season, winning just one win at the big events and experiencing a setback at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's varied form on the professional circuit - and struggles with his service game in specific - caused him falling of the top ten and finally separating with long-time coach Cervara.

Now collaborating with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has steadily advanced in the recent weeks - culminating in a hard-fought three-set triumph over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's maiden trophy since the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hard court from that period of 2023.

The win also indicates Medvedev has achieved 21 victories at twenty-one different competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a event with my two daughters at once, so to win a title is especially meaningful," stated ranked player Medvedev.

"This title is in tribute of my second daughter Victoria, because the maiden victory I got when my older daughter Alisa was born was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had lost his previous six finals, featuring in the German tournament earlier this year.

The player's retrieving approach and frequent emotional displays on the playing surface had led observers to wonder if his capacity to play at the highest level was finished.

Yet the 29-year-old has altered his approach in the last few weeks, making an effort to approach the net and perform assertively, reinforced by an better serving game.

He recovered from a break down in the initial set against the difficult Frenchman, securing 4 of the concluding five exchanges to take the lead.

The pair traded service breaks in the following set before the Frenchman, bidding for his maiden tour victory, seized the initiative to force a final set.

Moutet rescued four early opportunities in a close third set before the champion secured a break to fifteen to serve for the match.

Fittingly, Medvedev earned the title with a point at the net area, with Moutet unable to control a return after over two and a half hours.
